Time Has Tied Me - Jay Telfer

Jay Telfer

Time Has Tied Me

Time Has Tied Me, Jay Telfer’s only released album from Axe Records was recorded with the help of Jay’s many musician friends (a virtual musical who’s who at the time) and has been re-mastered from the original analog tapes. Jay’s lyrics are often witty and humorous and occasionally loaded with outrageous puns.

Jay wrote “Ten Pound Note” after his days with the successful band A Passing Fancy (it became a hit single recorded by blues-rock band Steel River). Early solo vinyl singles included “Life, Love And The Pursuit Of Happiness (A Hippy Philosophy)” and “High Falootin’“. His many-faceted interests and careers included acting in Hollywood movies and TV, writing movie and TV scripts, collecting Volkswagon memorabilia and, in later years, Jay founded and edited a successful weekly antiques magazine “The Wayback Times“. In 1990, he moved to Wellington, Ontario to open “Jay’s Bed & Breakfast” located in a home built in 1885. He hosted and performed at the Prince Edward County Folk Festival in 1992.

Jay passed away in 2009. To celebrate his life and music, The University Of Toronto’s Faculty of Music is naming their new music hall venue after him: The Jay Telfer Forum.
